Mission & Values
When asked to define my mission and values, I struggled to be clear and succinct… until I remembered a line from my vows at my first ordination (yes, there were two) in 2002: I vow to preach wherever I go, using words only when necessary. That was a paraphrase of the wisdom and advice of St. Francis of Assisi, one of my heroes. I believe it encapsulates my commitment to integrity, and authenticity, and walking our talk. It has been a guiding principle in both my professional and personal life, although anyone familiar with ministry knows they become one and the same.
At the core of all of my offerings is a call to be real, in all our messiness and glory. Author Jeff Brown expresses this eloquently, “I am not interested in enlightenment if it means detachment from the emotional body, the earth plane, the challenges of being human. I am interested in enrealment, because it means that my most spiritual moments are inclusive, arising right in the heart of all that is human: joy and sorrow, shopping list and unity consciousness, fresh mangoes and stale bread. Enrealment is about living in all aspects of reality simultaneously rather than only those realms that feel the most comfortable. We are not just the light, or the mind, or the emptiness, or perpetual positivity. We are the everything. It’s ALL God, even the dust that falls off my awakening heart.”
What I offer through this website are samples of twenty years of work, both from my ministry career and my coaching and consulting practice. My joy is teaching, coaching, and preaching whatever it takes to support those I love and serve in claiming their magnificence, and providing tools and skills to share that magnificence with the world.
